Management Consultant/Business Analyst (DC Metro Area)

This Management Consultant/Business Analyst will report to a Project Manager.  This staff member will be assigned by and take direction from a Project Manager. 

Typical engagements with clients will solve problems or pursue opportunities related to business operations, strategy, or information technology.  This staff member will be expected to work independently (i.e., with little oversight), interact directly with client staff, and work as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Engagements typically involve some of the following activities:

  • Identify and study problems concerned with business strategy, policy, organizational structure and processes.  Example activities may include the following:
    • Gather information for a business function regarding specific duties of each position, tools employed, and performance and quality measurements.  Create business process models using a variety of techniques.
    • Identify problem areas and offer solutions by considering alternatives, taking into account the benefits and costs of all recommendations.
  • Collect and analyze all available information:
    • Study information sources such as statistical records, reports, and organizational charts
    • Interview all tiers of client employees and other stakeholders
    • Conduct workshops to gather stakeholder ideas
    • Review internal training manuals, files and job descriptions to obtain additional information
    • Conducting literature searches of external sources such as publications and the Internet.
  • Create recommendations for improvements or actions:
    • Write detailed reports and summary presentations
    • Provide compelling justification (e.g., statistical evidence) to support conclusions and recommendations
    • Write functional and nonfunctional software requirements
    • Assist in the implementation of new information technology

Consulting experience:

Minimum of two years working for consultancy (preferred).  The particular areas of consulting will be information technology, business, or both.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
