The company was acknowledged for "creating jobs and making a difference in Pennsylvania". The winners of this prestigious award, recognizing companies throughout the state, will be announced May 30, 2014 at Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

"Receiving acknowledgement for 'creating jobs and making a difference in Pennsylvania' makes everything we work for here worth-while," said Steve James, Regional Director of Avanco's Wormleysburg, Pennsylvania office. "Our success with the CAPS program and ability to innovate comes from our collaboration with so many outstanding employees from counties throughout Pennsylvania that serve children and families through Child and Youth services."

Working with local government Human Services representatives, Avanco developed a software application to automate county manual processes for Child and Youth Services (CYS) data input and reporting to the State. Child and Youth services agencies operate within all counties in Pennsylvania to support troubled families and children of those families, the adoption process, foster care, abused children, those with Mental Health issues, and other family support services. All interaction with families and children is reported as required to the State of Pennsylvania and upward to the federal government. Avanco initially worked collaboratively with Crawford County, Pennsylvania and then over time with nearly every county in the state on what has become the Child Accounting and Profile System (CAPS) and the Integrated Case and Accounting Management subsystem (ICAMS) which has other integrated categorical service areas beyond CYS to include Early Intervention, Intellectual Disability and most notable Mental Health. Today CAPS operates in a secure hosted environment at Avanco's computer center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and supports counties statewide in their critical efforts to ensure that abused and at risk children are protected and supported by each county and the State of Pennsylvania. Our automated web-based hosted application has saved the State of Pennsylvania and its counties many millions of dollars annually in manual labor and reporting costs.

Avanco management is committed to working together with our county stakeholders to resolve business problems and provide continuous process improvement in a methodical, collaborative, and smart way for the betterment of Pennsylvania citizens. To codify that commitment, Avanco recently achieved Capability Maturity Model Integration CMMI® Maturity Level 2 for Development v1.3 certification of the CAPS application.
