Transformation

Organizational Transformation is the radical rethinking of how an organization looks at its functions.  Organizational Transformation is not just a reorganization of the company, it is a shift in the way people think about how things are done.  Organizational transformations efforts start by identifying the business drivers that necessitate the need for change.  A Transformation initiative looks across a whole organization to discover how it can measurably improve the way it operates.  Many organizations seek consulting firms with change management expertise.

Avanco staff has found a seemingly simple 3-step approach to implementing lasting change.  To implement change in an organization, there must be unfreezing, changing, and then refreezing of business practices.

The step of unfreezing is used to arouse a motivation to change.  This initial step in implementing a transformation is to establish or maintain healthy working relationships with those affected by the change, help the staff to realize that change is necessary, and locate and minimize resistance to change.

The changing step addresses the actual change.  Many of the ideas for improvement may have been identified during an organizational assessment or during strategic planning.

The refreezing step makes a change lasting.  Refreezing is accomplished through repetition, reinforcement, and reward.  An environment that creates acceptance for the improvement must be created.  Lasting change will also be established when performance-contingent rewards and positive reinforcement are present.
